Global challenges and opportunities: give space a chance – under this slogan, the International Space Federation organized the 74th International Astronautical Congress (IAC). The congress was held on October 2-6, 2023 in Baku, Azerbaijan. It is one of the largest events concerning space sciences and technologies, which gathered over 5,000 people professionally involved in space exploration.
The congress was an opportunity to present the works and projects of the Łukasiewicz – Institute of Aviation:
- novel communication and navigation systems onboard ILR-33 AMBER 2K rocket,
- payload service unit for the ILR-33 AMBER 2K rocket,
- feasibility of UV induced decomposition of high test peroxide in spacecraft propulsion,
- additive manufactured fuel injector as a way forward to improve green propellant liquid apogee engine,
- thrust vector control for controlled deorbiting – development and testing.
During the interactive sessions, the following topics were also presented:
- a new H2O2 oriented rocket and satellite propulsion laboratory center,
- design and development of engine control unit for nanosatellite applications,
- engineering model of the solid rocket motor for direct deorbiting.
The International Astronautical Federation voted also on the location of the IAC conference in 2026. The final candidates included Poznań and Antalya. Despite the great efforts of the Polish Space Agency and the European Space Foundation, and the positive recommendations of the federation for Poznań, Antalya won.
