On November 21, 2018 the Institute of Aviation hosted an open plenary session of the Committee on Space Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences (CSRPAS) which was jointly opened by the chairman of the Committee, professor Piotr Wolański and director of the Institute of Aviation, Paweł Stężycki, PhD Eng. The special guest of the meeting was the first Polish astronaut, Mirosław Hermaszewski.
The program of the meeting included a number of presentations, which were given by representatives of the most important Polish scientific institutions and companies operating in the space technology industry:
- Jan Kindracki, PhD hab. Eng., professor at Warsaw University of Technology: “Satellites from the PW-Sat series and information about tasks and flight of the PW-Sat satellite”
- Jacek Kosiec, MA, director of Creotech Instruments S.A .: “The company’s operations and information on the tasks and flight of the ICEYE-X2 satellite”
- Leszek Loroch, PhD Eng., director of the Center of Space Technologies at the Institute of Aviation: “Activities and achievements of the Center of Space Technologies”
- Piotr Wolański, profesor, PhD hab. Eng., CSRPAS: “Summary of the last term of the CSRPAS “
The meeting was also attended by guests from the Polish Space Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering of the Warsaw University of Technology, Polish Astronautical Society, “Loteczka” Club in Wrocław and many employees of the Institute of Aviation. Among the invited guests was also a retired Lieutenant General Lech Majewski – a former Commander of the Polish Armed Forces.
