From the second half of May 2018, the new model of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) – Phoenix (1:10) is part of the equipment at the Remote Sensing Division of the Institute of Aviation. Test flights have already been carried out and in the near future the model will be used as a carrier for the multispectral platform – QUERCUS.6, which in turn, is used to acquire images of the research areas in the LIFE HESOFF project. The obtained material is the basis for completion of one of the main tasks of the project – assessment of the health state of oak stands in the context of the evaluation of the influence of phosphites as elicitors of tree resistance to pathogens of the genus Phytophthora.

Model Phoenix (1:10) is a remotely controlled aircraft with an airframe mechanical structure with a pushing electric drive, and thanks to the autopilot system, the model can perform missions in automatic, semi-automatic and manual mode. Some of the technical parameters of the new BSP model:

  • wingspan: 3.85 m
  • max. start weight: 25 kg
  • capacity: 4.2 kg
  • max. flight limit: 3500 m AMSL
  • max. flight time: 45 minutes
  • max. speed: 35 m/s
