The 65th International Exhibition of Innovation, Research and New Technologies BRUSSELS INNOVA 2016 took place from 17 November until 19 November 2016.  The Institute of Aviation showcased the innovation “Individual Autonomous Navigation System (IANS)” developed by Stanisław Popowski’s team from the Avionics Department. The innovation was presented by Monika Świech-Szczepańska, the manager of the Coordination Office in the Center for Space Technologies.

The invention was assessed by fifteen judges, each of whom visited the stand of the Institute of Aviation individually and asked detailed questions about the system and the possible areas of application. As a result of the evaluation the jury has awarded the Institute of Aviation a gold medal. This is the third success of the Institute of Aviation in this event – last year’s gold medal was awarded to the Institute for the radio altimeter developed at the Avionics Department, Center for Space Technologies.

The stand of the Institute of Aviation was also visited by the Ambassador of Poland in Brussels, Artur Orzechowski, and the Counsellor of the Head of the Trade and Investment Promotion Section at the Polish Embassy, Kamil Ochmański. ISAN has also attracted a lot of interest among the other exhibitors and guests visiting Brussels exhibition. There was also interest in our invention from Polish media (Polish Radio RMF FM), whose representatives asked about the innovation.
