POLITYKA weekly granted scholarships for young talented scientists during an awarding gala that took place on October 22, 2023. The winner of the scientific award in the Technical Sciences category is Dr. Eng. Adam Okniński, director of the Space Technologies Center at Łukasiewicz – Institute of Aviation.
Dr. Eng. Adam Okniński’s area of expertise are rocket technologies, and above all, space vehicle drives using ecological and highly efficient propellants. This is an important area of research because its goal is to phase out toxic fuels and oxidants used today in artificial satellites, which pose a threat both at the production and operational stages. Dr. Okniński has written over a hundred scientific publications. He is also the winner of many domestic and foreign awards and the author of patents and patent applications.
The scientist of the Łukasiewicz – Institute of Aviation is one of five awarded scientists in the 23rd edition of POLITYKA Science Awards. The winners received scholarships worth PLN 15 000. An additional prize is an interview with each of the winners in the weekly.
POLITYKA Science Awards
Since 2001, the POLITYKA Weekly Foundation has been running a scholarship program for young scientists called “Stay with us!” – since 2011 under the name POLITYKA Science Awards. Through the campaign carried out in “Polityka”, a valuable career model and scientific achievements of young scientists in Poland are promoted.
POLITYKA Science Awards are granted in five categories: humanities, social sciences, exact sciences, technology and life sciences. The categories are understood as broadly as possible, and the entries become more and more interdisciplinary each year.
