Łukasiewicz – Institute of Aviation joined the nationwide action to help doctors coordinated by the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity (WOŚP). As part of the collaboration, engineers have produced and donated the first 300 adapters for masks which will soon be used by ambulance stations as a means of personal protection for medics. Ultimately, the Institute will donate 2000 adapters of its own production. The partners of the campaign are: General Electric (as part of the Engineers in Arms initiative), Łukasiewicz – Industrial Research Institute for Automation and Measurements PIAP and the Prosolutions company from Otwock.
Production takes place in 3D printing using FDM, MJP and SLA technologies. Adapters manufactured at the Institute are tailored to Decathlon masks.
The main coordinator of the adapter printing campaign for the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity is Paweł Żuk, MSc. – an Engineering Design Center engineer, operating as part of the #EngineersInArms initiative. Engineering teams under the leadership of Agnieszka Sobieszek, MSc. (Aviation Chassis Department), Jacek Walasik, MA Eng. (Modern Manufacturing Technologies Department), Mateusz Pytel, Eng. (Space Technologies Department) and numerous volunteers.
