On 20th May 2016 at Fabryka Trzciny in Warsaw an exhibition and presentation of the Institute of Aviation achievements on the occasion of the 90th anniversary connected with the Gala and Jubilee Ball was held. The current and former employees, as well as the invited guests from Poland and abroad, participated in the event.
An atmosphere of a century-old factory, a red carpet, the Warsaw Philharmonic string quartet and 800 guests in evening dresses and tuxedos – so began the evening during which the 90th anniversary of the Institute of Aviation was celebrated. Industrial interiors, halls illuminated with multi-colored lights were the meeting place for the multigenerational community of engineers and scientists who jointly celebrated their contribution to the history of one of the oldest research institutes in Poland.
The celebrations began with the official part, during which the director of the Institute of Aviation – professor Witold Wiśniowski greeted the guests. The highlight of the Gala was the presentation of awards to 31 distinguished employees of the Institute of Aviation. On behalf of the President of the Republic of Poland, an honorary patron of the jubilee, distinctions were handed in by general brigadier Jarosław Kraszewski, the director of the Armed Forces Supervision Department at the National Security Bureau.
Individual awards were granted by the authorities of the Masovian voivodeship. A commemorative medal “Pro Masovia” granted by the marshal Adam Struzik was awarded to professor Witold Wiśniowski – the director of the Institute of Aviation. A special award was also granted by the council of Masovian voivodeship. A badge of honor “Merited for Masovian voivodeship” received the Institute of Aviation. Also present among the honored was Wojciech Potkański, PhD Eng. who was awarded “Merited for Podkarpackie voivodeship” badge by the marshal of Podkarpackie voivodeship, Władysław Ortyl.
During the ceremony, the Institute of Aviation handed in its own anniversary statuettes. On behalf of the hosts: the chairman of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Aviation, professor Roman Domański and director of the Institute of Aviation, professor Witold Wiśniowski handed them in to the honored guests.
The official part ended with a photo of all the awarded. The jubilee cake in the shape of an aircraft wing was sliced together by professor Witold Wiśniowski and professor Roman Domański. Written congratulations and thanks were handed out by the representatives of the ministries and friendly institutions.
The attraction of the evening was a concert by Małgorzata Ostrowska and Urszula, who filled the hearts of the whole aviation community with the spirit of dance.
An unforgettable performance was given by the actors of the Rampa and Buffo theaters, who recalled the hits from the 70’s , 80’s and 90’s. Singing intertwined with another, equally interesting artistic team performance – Dancing Ganesh Bollywood.
Dance champions presented to the audience choreographies familiar from the full of colors and glitz Bollywood movies. Fun until dawn was accompanied by the rhythms served by DJ Pontus.
