Conference for the drone sector
May 24, 2024, Poland, Warsaw

We are preparing remarkable event for the drone industry. On May 24, 2024, we invite you to the headquarters of Łukasiewicz – Institute of Aviation in Warsaw, Poland. The entire day will be filled with an analysis of global megatrends and local trends, providing concrete answers to questions regarding drone missions. We will discuss the real challenges of the market and the opportunities for its development. We will showcase companies implementing UAV in their operations and collaborations between various entities aimed at solving specific sectoral issues. A lot of inspiration will be combined with the possibility for networking. Last year, we welcomed around 200 attendees, including representatives from companies and institutions from across Poland and Europe. Since the beginning of 2024, we have been conducting foresights for the UAV market. Representatives from 4 different drone sectors have helped us identify variants of UAV applications. These strategic insights regarding the future scenarios of the drone market will also be presented at the conference. We invite you to participate. More information coming soon.

Łukasiewicz – Institute of Aviation and the Micromacro Institute Foundation (Fundacja Instytut Mikromakro) would like promote and support of UAV market development in Poland and in EU. That’s why two institutions jointly preparing for the first foresight of the drone market in Poland for 2040 timeframe. In response to the challenges facing the unmanned technology industry, both institutions – through the organization of online seminars, reports, and conferences – are creating a space for discussion and exchange of experiences regarding the application of drones in various sectors.

We invite you to the conference, which is a culmination of the strategic discussions held during the first foresight in the UAV sector in Poland – DRONIADA FUTURE FORUM by Łukasiewicz – Institute of Aviation, taking place on May 24, 2024. The scenarios will also be part of the discussion on autonomous transport – robotized mobility, which is the theme of Droniada 2024 (June 4-9, 2024).

Why did we choose foresight?

It is a forecast defining visions of the future. Foresight aims to indicate future needs, opportunities, and threats related to the development of the industry in technological, economic, and social aspects. With a special emphasis on the consequences arising from regulatory changes and current and potential drone usage scenarios. UAV foresight also serves to forecast and program a favorable future for the sector. It is a tool for determining at which stage of development the Polish drone market is, including the challenges it faces. It is also an opportunity for engagement, discussion with market participants, and understanding the needs of representatives of various industries where the application of new technologies and UAV is an key factor for further development of key sectors of the Polish economy. For this purpose, we have identified four subsectors related to drone applications. Future scenarios are being created for the following sectors:

  1. Logistics and transportation.
  2. Monitoring and inspection.
  3. Precision agriculture and environmental protection.
  4. Search and Rescue (SAR) services.

We invite you to get to results and conclusions in the conference, where they will be presented.

Is the drone market at a critical moment?

Dr. Eng. Sylwester Wyka, Deputy Director for Research at the Łukasiewicz – Institute of Aviation:

“The unmanned aerial vehicle market is at a turning point. On the one hand, it is characterized by great potential, including the opportunity for application in various sectors of the economy. On the other hand, as of January 1, 2024, flights in the specific category can only be carried out by a drone equipped with an active and up-to-date remote identification system, and operations according to standard scenarios (STS) become possible. Furthermore, in Poland, there are certifying institutions that have undergone audits but cannot receive notification. Our goal is to integrate the scientific, local government, and business communities to develop scenarios for the development of the drone sector in Poland. This is the first attempt of this kind to develop solutions involving stakeholders from different sectors who utilize drones in their activities. It also provides a perspective from various angles – economic, social, and technological. We are creating a BSP ecosystem involving drone service providers and recipients of these services, including representatives from various business sectors and city officials”.

Drone Industry Report

One of the elements that allows us to take a broader look at the entire drone market is the industry report “The Storm. Drone Market in Poland. Edition 2024” by the Micromacro Institute Foundation and the Łukasiewicz – Institute of Aviation, which is the titular partner of the publication and research. The report was created after a January debate in the European Parliament on the future of the BSP sector. It aims to present the specifics of the long-standing Polish market to a wide international audience. It depicts the BSP industry at a critical moment as EU regulations come into force, which may affect the slowdown of innovation development and the outflow of intellectual capital to Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. The report can be downloaded for free from the Institute’s website.
