13. Noc w Instytucie Lotnictwa

The Night at the Institute of Aviation is the largest educational event in Poland promoting scientific achievements in the field of aviation and space technologies. The event has been bringing together enthusiasts of aviation, space and engineering sciences from all over Poland in Warsaw for over 10 years. This year’s edition of the Night at the Institute of Aviation will take place on Friday, October 4, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Free entrance.

The Łukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of Aviation is a place where research in the field of aviation and space technologies has been conducted for almost 100 years. Achievements of an outstanding class of designers and scientists of the Institute, including Tadeusz Sołtyk, under whose leadership the TS-8 Bies and TS-11 Iskra aircraft were created, and professor Piotr Wolański, an outstanding specialist in the field of research on combustion engines, in particular engines using the rotating detonation process, supporting Poland’s inclusion in the European Space Agency and the establishment of the Polish Space Agency, constitute groundbreaking events in the world history of aviation and space. The Institute’s extensive infrastructure, 23 specialized research laboratories, and 10 centers of excellence attract the attention of not only scientists and business representatives, but also aviation enthusiasts.

– We are number 1 in Poland in terms of the number of certified laboratories for the aerospace and defense industry located in one location. We have the largest wind tunnel in Central and Eastern Europe, as well as the largest vacuum chamber in Europe for testing fans, rotating parts of aircraft engines and industrial turbines. In addition, we have a Rocket and Satellite Propulsion Laboratory Center, unique on a European scale, and an advanced 3D printing and CNC machining fleet – says Paweł Stężycki, director of the Łukasiewicz – Institute of Aviation.

 – All this places us among the leading research institutions in the world, and this makes us feel obliged to promote the achievements of Polish science and engineering professions. Therefore, once a year, our Institute is open to visitors for 6 hours. Thus, it turns into a space full of exhibitors, shows, workshops and talks about planes, drones and space travel  –  adds Paweł Stężycki.

13th Night at the Institute of Aviation – education through fun

The Night at the Institute of Aviation is a flagship educational event that has permanently entered the calendar of Polish aviation events. Previous editions have gathered over 400,000 enthusiasts of aviation technologies, including unmanned aircraft, as well as the achievements of engineers in the field of space travel.

– A significant group of current visitors are children and teenagers. Therefore, similarly to previous editions, the 13th Night at the Institute of Aviation will include workshops, demonstrations and visits to selected laboratories, as well as aircraft and helicopter exhibitions. Learning through fun, meetings with pilots who share their passion are just some of the elements of this year’s edition of the event. Its extraordinary value is that it starts just before sunset  –  says Paweł Stężycki.

The Night at the Institute of Aviation has gained great popularity throughout the years. Over 200 exhibitors take part in it during one night, including scientific and research institutions that are part of the Łukasiewicz Research Network, companies presenting achievements in the field of aviation and space technologies, and student scientific circles.
