Project aims:
The main objective of the project is to develop a universal system for monitoring pollution in vegetation and soil using remote sensing techniques for agriculture. The result of the project will be a system supporting the detection of areas characterized by the probability of occurrence of pollution, which will make it possible to carry out specific actions, at the same time minimizing the impact of harmful substances on the environment. The results of this project will lead to a number of benefits for end users, the most important of which are improvements in the quality of soil and agricultural products, which in turn translate into improvements in the quality of human health and life.
The project will develop a comprehensive database containing test data obtained for representative research areas – ground (soil and plant samples) as well as photogrammetric, remote sensing and environmental. During the project, algorithms will be developed and tested to classify the area according to the presence and type of contaminants, as well as to indicate potential sites exposed to them. All developed solutions together with the database will be implemented into a system integrated with the cloud environment, which will ensure its versatility and scalability throughout the country.
The aim of the project will be achieved through cooperation between scientific and research units – Łukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of Aviation, The Research Institute of Horticulture (InHort) and The Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation (IUNG), as well as local government units and agricultural producers. Our scientific, technical and research facilities will enable us to develop optimal conditions for project implementation. The commercialisation of the results of the research will be carried out through the establishment of a spin-off company after the end of the project.
