Innovative space propulsion solutions developed in Łukasiewicz-Institute of Aviation are mostly based on the use of highly concentrated hydrogen peroxide, currently classified as one of the most environment friendly propellants in existence. One of the key aspects of utilizing its potential is a proper design of the catalyst bed and its auxiliary equipment. The international consortium established for the sake of EVACPRO aims at developing a solution requested by the European Space Agency. The task of Łukasiewicz-ILOT in this project is to deliver mathematical models to be implemented in the ECOSIMPRO software – a leading solution in system simulations. Models identified in a literature study as well as the experience of Łukasiewicz-Institute of Aviation will we used to provide a mathematical formulation of the operation of catalyst beds, which will then be implemented and verified by the remaining consortium members. EVACPRO establishes a cooperation between experts in space propulsion testing and implementation of numerical model, which is aimed at creating a new standard in terms of functionality of environment friendly space propulsion by extending the functionality of ECOSIMPRO.
