Aerodynamic Tunnel Complex

Project description:

The project aims to maintain the competitiveness and research potential of the Areodynamic Tunnel Complex, which consists of: T3 Areodynamic Tunnel and N-3 Trisonic Areodynamic Tunnel. The areodynamic tunnels are the key research infrastructure of aviation R&D units.

Experiments conducted in the Areodynamic Tunnel Complex allow the design and optimization of new and existing aircraft structures.  The work carried out in the tunnels can be applied to research in the field of wind turbines and photovoltaics. The parameters of the N3 supersonic tunnel allow R&D work to be carried out in the field of high-speed aircraft, airfoils of helicopter blades and propellers, and in the field of rocket technology. Recipients of R&D services provided by ILOT are entities from the aviation, defense or energy sectors.

The research infrastructure that is part of the Areodynamic Tunnel Complex has been built since the mid-1960s and requires adaptation to modern standards (including 5S), as well as maintenance, servicing and repairs to maintain the originally intended functions. The project includes activities concerning, among other things, the tunnel’s internal coatings, systems: executive, power, safety, control system, or calibration of test equipment. The work will be carried out in 2025 and 2026.
