On 21 February 2017 at Gdańsk University of Technology intercollegiate studies in “Space Technologies and Satellite” were inaugurated. These studies were organized by Gdańsk University of Technology, Gdynia Maritime Academy and the Polish Naval Academy in Gdynia. During the solemn inauguration of the studies, professor Piotr Wolański delivered a lecture titled “Poland’s road to space”. In his lecture he presented Poles who contributed to space research as well as discussed domestic initiatives related to space exploration, including the contribution of the Institute of Aviation to the development of missile technology.
