December 19, 2012, the Minister of Science and Higher Education has honored the most outstanding Polish scholars and academics. Statues for scientific achievements and financial rewards went to the greatest in their disciplines, researchers, explorers of new technologies, the authors of the theories and scientific works. Prof. Piotr Wolański was awarded for lifetime scientific achievement. Winner’s name was also entered into the Golden Book of the Warsaw University of Technology Alumni as the 17th personality in the history of the university. The fields of prof. Wolański scientific activity are: combustion, explosions, aircraft engines, spacecraft engines, astrophysics and methods of combustion diagnostics. Professor Piotr Wolanski is a distinguished academic and supervisor of many doctoral dissertations. He developed a series of lectures on combustion engines, spacecraft engines and astronautics. Under his care was built the first Polish satellite of the Earth “PW-Sat”. He gave lectures at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, USA, Northeastern University in Shenyang, China and the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. In Poland he coordinated for many year researches in the field of combustion and explosion.
