The Armed Forces General Command invites all interested persons to an official celebration of the Polish Aviation Day that will be held on August 23-28, 2017 in Warsaw.

The Polish Aviation Day (August, 28th) was set up to commemorate the victory of Franciszek Żwirka and Stanisław Wigura in the International Tourist Plane Competition (The Challenge 1932). This year, we celebrate the 85th anniversary of the event.

Celebration program:

August 23, 2017 – Warsaw (Wednesday)

  • 18:00-19:15 – Holy Mass in the Field Cathedral of the Polish Army

August 24, 2017 – Warsaw (Thursday)

  • 11:00-12:30 – A ceremony at the Monument to the Polish Aviators Fallen in 1939-1945 (Pole Mokotowskie)
  • 13:00-16:00 – Cross-generational meeting in the gardens of GCAF (personal invitation only)

August 28, 2017 – Warsaw (Monday)

Ceremonial commemoration of fallen and departed aviators:

  • 7:40-8:00 – Obelisk commemorating the victims of the Smolensk disaster; Monument to the Airman; A plaque commemorating the soldiers of the Air Force persecuted by the Military Information Service
  • 8:40-9:10 – Powazki Cemetery in Warsaw
