Łukasiewicz – Institute of Aviation and GE Power signed an agreement in Warsaw on March 8th, 2023. Acting as partners, both companies will build future-proof solutions and develop maintenance services for the energy industry. The agreement will be valid until the end of 2035.

The Łukasiewicz – Institute of Aviation tightens the cooperation with its long-term business partner, GE, with which it has been implementing joint projects not only in the field of aviation, but also energy for over two decades.

– This is a very important moment for the Institute. On the one hand, we are pleased that despite the restructuring at our strategic partner – GE, we are able to continue cooperation for commercial power industry, fruitful for both parties. On the other hand, we have an amazing opportunity thanks to the development of cooperation in important areas such as energy based on renewable sources, and in nuclear energy in the future. This is another important step in the consistent implementation of the Institute’s strategy and our assumptions regarding the development of our research – says Paweł Stężycki, director of the Łukasiewicz – Institute of Aviation.

GE Power also sees the benefits of cooperation:

– The signed agreement allows us to continue and develop the model of cooperation created 23 years ago in the energy sector. Together with the Łukasiewicz – Institute of Aviation, based on the expanded laboratory infrastructure and engineering teams, we implement projects supporting the energy transformation at the local and global level. By opening a new chapter of this cooperation, I am convinced that the coming years will bring success and further increase in the competence of our center – emphasizes Michał Małecki, Vice-President of the Management Board of GE Power Poland.

Development of a joint research center

On the basis of the agreement, a new organizational unit was created within the structure of the Institute: the Energy Technology Center, whose task will be to provide research and development services for GE Power.

– The agreement we have concluded gives us new opportunities in providing innovative solutions in the energy industry using the skills of our engineers and scientists. These are new opportunities for partnership cooperation and development for us, which makes us a strong player on the international arena – assures Daniel Jaworski, director of the Energy Technology Center in Łukasiewicz – Institute of Aviation.

The activities of the new center will focus mainly on engineering areas: designing, manufacturing, analyzing and servicing parts for high-power gas turbines and wind turbines. One of the main tasks of this organizational unit will be to implement a new energy era that will build a cleaner future.
