The Institute of Aviation participates in the project Roadmap Small Air Transport (SAT-Rdmp), which is implemented under the 7th Framework Programme of the European Union in the field of transport. The project focuses on developing new environmentally friendly, accessible and costs efficient segment of the air transport system, which would fill a niche between the network of road and rail transport and a network of large aircraft flights. The main means of transportation would be small planes that could operate from small airports, which so far have not used for passenger service nor freight. Thanks implementation of the SAT ideas smaller communities would have access to air transport in a cost effective way, which would also improve the growth of regional economies – especially those with poorly developed road infrastructure.
