The Institute of Aviation was granted a European patent for a method for quick estimation of aeroelastic characteristics during in-flight flutter tests. The patent was granted by the European Patent Office on 12th August 2015. The inventors of the method are: Antoni Niepokólczycki, Ph.D. Eng. – leader of the project and research team, Franciszek Lenort, Ph.D. Eng., Robert Królikowski, Msc. Eng., Michał Szmidt, Ph.D. Eng. and Paweł Kucio, Msc. Eng.
The method was invented by the consortium of the Institute of Aviation and Poznan University of Technology within the project performed under the Operational Programme Innovative Economy 2007-2013. The main aim of the project was to invent an up-to-date research method for in-flight flutter tests, based on computational models and numerical simulations.
The European Patent will be in force in the contracting states of the European Patent Organization designated in the European Patent Specification by the Institute of Aviation.
