On 6th June 2014 in the 70th anniversary of landing of Allied Forces in Normandy took place the scientific conference on the events of that time. The conference was organized by the Institute of Aviation.

The event was attended by many honored guests – ambassadors, representatives of the diplomatic corps, ministries, scientific community, generals, historians, pilots, aviation-related people, journalists and students.

During the conference held a promotion of the latest book written by Professor Tadeusz Królikiewicz and Wojtek Matusiak – “Polish Plane and Color. Polish Air Force in the West, 1940-1946.” The book was published in the cooperation with the Scientific Publishers Division of the Institute of Aviation and Bellona Publishing House.

The conference was followed by a concert of songs of Edith Piaf performed by Dorota Lulka with the band: Paweł Nowak – the accordion and Maciej Sadowski – the double bass.

After the artistic part, the guests were invited to a banquet.

The conference “Heroes of the Skies” was held under the honorary patronage of the Institute of National Remembrance.
