On November 22, 2019, a demonstration of the operation of the passenger space ventilation system designed for railway vehicles undergoing ongoing repairs took place at the Rolling Stock Repair Plant in Kruszewiec.
The meeting was the finalization of a project run by the Łukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of Aviation (Ł-ILOT) for the company “Przewozy Regionalne” Sp.z o.o. (POLREGIO).
The engineers from the Aerodynamics Department Ł-ILOT designed a ventilation system that will significantly improve the thermal comfort of passengers by providing a continuous supply of fresh air while evacuating air contaminated with CO2, steam or unwanted odors. Experiments and tools in the field of aviation have been creatively used to design the air stream system ensuring optimal operation of the system.
The event was attended by representatives of the management board of POLREGIO: president Krzysztof Zgorzelski and Jarosław Klasa, president of the Łukasiewicz Research Network – Piotr Dardziński; The Łukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of Aviation was represented by: general director – Paweł Stężycki, director of the Center of New Technologies – Jerzy Żółtak and representatives of the design team: Przemysław Drężek, Mikołaj Jarkowski and Michał Rajek.
