The charity action “Reaching the clouds”, inaugurated to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Institute of Aviation, finally reached its goal. The collected funds allowed the organization of a plane trip to Gdańsk for sixteen students from Zespół Szkół nr 126 in Warsaw.
A charity fundraising was held as part of the “Reaching the clouds” campaign (April 1-14, 2016) featuring an auction of original illustrations for the jubilee calendar of the Institute of Aviation and works of art by artists from around the world. The proceeds were used to organize short holidays for children from underprivileged families.
The trip took place just before the end of the school year on June 21-22, 2017. For many of the participants this was the first flight in their lives. The young people who took part in the trip were selected from the students who were particularly attentive during the school year – they showed civility, followed social norms and principles, pursued full personal development and were involved in both class and school life.
During the two-day stay, students saw and visited: Gdynia Aquarium, ORP Błyskawica naval vessel, Sopot pier, Hewelianum Center, Gdańsk Old Town and Westerplatte. Apart from the flight, the participants had the chance to reach the clouds on the Amber Sky Gdansk lookout tower and sail on the Black Pearl galleon.
The charity co-ordinators were: the “Sercem Malowane” association and the Institute of Aviation. The Galapagos travel agency and Reklamowe24 advertising company also provided support towards organizing this trip.
