On the 30th of January, 2019 the representative of the Institute of Aviation participated in the annual meeting of ASD (AeroSpace and Defense Industries Association of Europe) in Brussels.
The event was attended by over 150 members, who represented the aerospace industry active in the defense sector. An important subject of the meeting were the potential effects of Brexit, mainly its impact on safety and costs. Major emphasis was placed on security – procedures, processes, software and hardware. During the meeting, beside many interesting key-note speeches by the representatives of the European Commission and leading industries, a lot of attention was paid to bilateral talks and networking.
ASD concentrates on issues covering civil aviation, defence, security and space. It is committed to sustaining and growing a competitive sector. In order to achieve this strategic objective, ASD analyses, formulates and establishes policy positions for the industry on key strategic sectorial issues, cooperating with the industry and EU institutions on a number of market developments and technology research projects.
It has direct members, active in 18 countries, including 16 major European industries and 23 national associations.
During the event, the Institute of Aviation was represented by General Director Paweł Stężycki, who was the only Polish delegate at the ASD annual meeting.
