This is the fifth time that the Institute of Aviation has organised the conference dedicated to marketing issues in scientific and research organisations. The event brought together over 100 experts from Poland and abroad. The Forum is the only platform in Poland to exchange knowledge, views and experience and present the results of research concerning a variety of fields in the marketing of science.
The two-day conference was inaugurated by the Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education, Prof. Ph.D. Marek Ratajczak, who pointed out that marketing is an integral element of every social and economic activity, which is why it must also concern scientific and research organisations. This is one of the forms of directly reaching the main stakeholders of a given organisation.
The Director of the Institute of Aviation – Prof. Witold Wiśniowski, Ph.D. Eng., Ds.Sc. Eng., also made an opening speech and indicated that the Forum brings together all those that are striving to change the mentality, method of organisation, market and scope of actions of Polish scientific and research organisations.
The main topics addressed at the Conference included: marketing tools of scientific and research organisations, social media, marketing communication management and other specific areas (corporate social responsibility, employer branding, internal communication).
The Forum participants also had the opportunity to familiarise themselves with stands of scientific and research organisations as well as scientific publishing houses and booksellers. The following organisations were presented on stands on the first day of the Conference: National Centre for Research and Development, National Centre of Science, Index Copernicus, Publishing House of the Warsaw University of Technology, Polish Economic Publishing House, Publishing House of the Poznan University of Economics, Publishing House of the Faculty of Management of Warsaw University, Economic Bookstore Kazimierz Leki, ABE-IPS Bookstore (MDM Bookstore), and the Scientific Publishing Houses of the Institute of Aviation.
The first day of the Conference ended with the performance titled “Oleanna” and a formal banquet in Studio Theatre.
The mini-film studio of the Institute of Aviation was also operating throughout the two-day Conference. The authors publishing their works and papers in the MINIB quarterly were asked to record brief announcements introducing the topics discussed by them in their scientific articles. Clips will be available shortly on the website of the MINIB quarterly next to specific publications.
Highlights from the Forum were for the first time on Twitter. The organisers reported from the Conference in the Polish and English language, also including photographs. Forum participants could also post their comments on the Twitter account. The stream of information was visible not only for Twitter users but also for the Conference guests – the tweets were displayed on the screen visible to the speakers and the persons sitting in the hall.
One of the undoubtedly most successful outcomes of the live tweets was that the information at the Conference was received by over 19,000 unique users! (Twitter messages from the Conference).
The organisers of the event would like to invite all those interested in the marketing of scientific and research organisations to next year’s Conference, which will be held on 19th – 20th November 2015 at the Institute of Aviation in Warsaw. The event will be further enhanced by panel discussions and workshops after each thematic session.
The Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Ministry of Economy have taken honorary patronage of the 5th European Forum for Marketing of Scientific and Research Organisations. The expert partners included: The National Centre for Research and Development, Index Copernicus and the National Centre of Science.
