The 16th edition of the Polish-American Conference on Science and Technology was held on 16-17 May 2016 at the Institute of Aviation. The event  was teeming with presentations related not only to aviation, but it was also an opportunity for discussion and sharing experiences. The organizers of the conference were the Institute of Aviation and the Ohio State University.

The Institute of Aviation, which is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year, initiated during the conference the dual PhD degree program. Anagreement was signed by the director of the Institute of Aviation –Witold Wiśniowski and the director of the Propulsion and Power Center at the Ohio State University – Mike Benzakein. The goal of this cooperation is to provide a framework for exceptional graduate students enrolled in the two institutions who seek a global education and professional experience.

During the two-day conference topics related to aerospace technologies, energy, environment and technical education were touched on. Presentations were given by representatives of well-known companies, such as: General Electric, Pratt&Whitney, Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, Bell Helicopter, PGZ – Polish Armaments Group, as well as by experts from theInstitute of Aviation, Ohio State University, Warsaw University of Technology, University of Cincinnati and AGH University of Science and Technology.

Among the guests were also representatives of Polish government: Jadwiga Emilewicz – undersecretary of state at the Ministry of Economic Development, Michał Kurtyka – undersecretary of state at the Ministry of Energy, Andrzej J. Piotrowski – undersecretary of state at the Ministry of Energy,Grzegorz Kozłowski – minister-counselor, director of the Americas Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Kathleen Morenski – counselor for political and economic affairs at the U.S.Embassy in Poland.

A novelty in the course of this year’s conference was a panel discussion with experts. On perspectives and opportunities for accelerating Polish-American cooperation in science and technology discussed: Jadwiga Emilewicz (Ministry of Economic Development), Mike Benzakein (Ohio State University), Ronald J. Kurjanowicz (RJK Consulting), Dorota Grejner-Brzezinska (Ohio State University), Grzegorz Kozłowski (Ministry of Foreign Affairs), Magdalena Nizik (General Electric Company Polska), Zdobysław Goraj (Institute of Aviation) and Rajmund Bacewicz (Warsaw University of Technology).

Next year’s edition of the Polish-American Conference on Science and Technology will be held at the Ohio State university.
