From September 3-6, 2024, the International Defence Industry Exhibition (MSPO) will take place in Kielce, offering a prime opportunity for Łukasiewicz – Institute of Aviation to showcase its latest advancements in security and innovation for the defense sector. Our presence at the event will be marked by a display of cutting-edge aerospace technologies, including rocket and satellite propulsion systems. Visit us at Stand 65 in Hall D and the outdoor exhibition area to explore our offer.

A Focus on Innovative Rocket Technologies

“This year, we are highlighting our comprehensive approach to innovation – from conceptualization to flight testing. Our expertise in rocket technologies is built on years of experience and successful R&D projects. As part of this effort, we are seeking industry partners to further develop our technologies, which are at various stages of technological readiness,” says Dr. Paweł Stężycki, Director of Łukasiewicz – Institute of Aviation.

Among the key exhibits will be the engineering model of the ILR-33 AMBER 2K suborbital rocket, which reached the edge of space in July 2024. The successful flight test during an international mission demonstrated our capability to design, produce, and test rocket components at the highest level. The composite nose cone, designed and manufactured by our Institute and recovered from the space flight will be also showed.

In addition to the AMBER 2K, we will also present a model of a solid-propellant motor for orbital maneuvers, suitable for deorbiting and other space missions. This technology is particularly relevant for military and space army and  organizations. At the Polish Space Agency’s (POLSA) stand (B-79), you can also learn more about our green satellite propulsion module POLON and the GRACE engine, which has garnered significant international interest.

Rotating Detonation (RDE) – a new frontier

In addition to proven technologies like the AMBER rocket and propulsion systems, we will introduce early-stage engineering concepts. One of the highlights is a demonstrator of a missile featuring an innovative ramjet engine utilizing rotating detonation, capable of achieving supersonic speeds. This pioneering technology of RDE, developed by only a few countries globally, is the result of 15 years of R&D at our Institute. The RDE (Rotating Detonation Engine) will also be on display, showcasing its potential applications across the aerospace, space, and defense industries.

“We are eager to showcase this technology to the world, as its development and application in both civilian and military sectors could revolutionize the future. Collaboration with end-users, such as the military, and industry partners is crucial for us,” says Dr. Paweł Stężycki, Director of Łukasiewicz – Institute of Aviation.

WR-2 Rocket Launcher at the Outdoor Exhibit

At the outdoor exhibition space, visitors will find the mobile WR-2 rocket launcher, designed by our engineers for the AMBER 2K mission. This launcher has been successfully tested multiple times, including during international space missions. Notable for its ease of configuration and mission optimization, the WR-2 can handle rockets weighing up to 3,000 kg and with a maximum thrust of nearly 80 kN. The launcher is compact enough to fit in a standard container. The launcher is ready-to-use product and also can be offer as a service of engineering expertise in designing custom solutions. Demonstrations of the launcher’s arm raising will also be held during the MSPO.

Accompanying events at MSPO

On September 3, 2024, at 1:00 PM, a tripartite agreement will be signed at our stand (D-65) between Łukasiewicz – Institute of Aviation, Hanwha Aerospace Europe, and Changwon National University. The event is open to the public.

On September 5, 2024, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM in Conference Hall G3, we will co-host an event titled “The Real Potential of the Polish Space and Rocket Sector: How to Foster Development?” in collaboration with the Polish Space Agency. The session will include discussions on the AMBER 2K rocket, its launch, and the technologies behind it, with expert insights on the future of defense technology. The event is open to all.

Following this, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, a matchmaking session titled “Circular Economy and Sustainable Mobility – Innovative Materials, Propulsion, and Energy Sources” will take place, organized by the Industrial Contact Point for “Intelligent and Clean Mobility” and “Sustainable Economy.” This session offers a unique opportunity to exchange experiences, showcase innovations in propulsion, energy sources, and materials, and gain insights into funding opportunities under the Horizon Europe program. Registration and the presentation template for the pitching session are available here.

We look forward to welcoming you at MSPO 2024!
