On 27th March 2014 the Marshal of the Mazowieckie Voivodeship, Adam Struzik and Director of the Institute of Aviation Witold Wiśniowski signed an agreement on co-financing the project of the Centre of Innovative Aeronautical and Space Technologies. Total amount of the co-financing from the European funds is 18 million zlotys.
To the signing ceremony were also invited: Jan Wyrowiński – Deputy Speaker of the Senate of Poland, Prof. Grzegorz Banaszek – Dean of the Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering, Warsaw University of Technology, and Prof. Marek Banaszkiewicz – Director of the Space Research Centre, Polish Academy of Sciences.
In the speech, the Director of the Institute of Aviation, Witold Wiśniowski announced the launch of the second-cycle studies in the field of aeronautical and space technologies in cooperation with the Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering. First students will begin studies in October 2014.
He also declared a close cooperation with the Space Research Centre which are, together with the new Centre of Innovative Aeronautical and Space Technologies, the most competitive units of this type in Poland.
The Centre of Innovative Aeronautical and Space Technologies is the latest investment carried out at the Institute of Aviation. New employees will be recruited among engineers of various specializations such as physics, chemistry etc.
The new building will be also a meeting place – it has many meeting rooms and the largest one – in the form of the auditorium – will be able to accommodate 500 people.
The new center is also an important investment for Masovia region.
– It is assumed that over 30% of the scientific potential is in the Mazowieckie voivodship. And in the development of our region we want to rely on a very modern technologies. At the moment we are building smart specializations which can help us to be at the top in this highly competitive world. Without a doubt, space and aeronautical technologies can give a chance for the dynamic development both for Poland and Masovia – said the Marshal of Mazowieckie voivodship, Adam Struzik.
Marshal also sent a word to the future staff:
– I hope that through their work and effort Poland will be on the top – including those sublime, very innovative areas of science, production and manufacture – because I think it is necessary for all of us. All the best for the entire institute!
After the ceremony, the guests visited the building of the new center.
The total cost of the project amounts to 48,3 million zlotys.
