On 12th February 2014 the Institute of Aviation was visited by U.S. Ambassador Stephen Mull. The visit was a great opportunity to present the Institute of Aviation’s achievements and a chance to discuss about the Polish-American cooperation in the field of economy and scientific-cultural exchange between these two countries. Guests were welcomed by the Director of the Institute of Aviation, Witold Wiśniowski.
American guests were represented by U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Poland Stephen Mull and the personnel of the American Embassy: Brenda VanHorn Commercial Attache, Brian Mattys, Political-Economic Officer and Joanna Chomicka, Commercial Specialist.
Leszek Rams, Infrastructure Director, talked about the mission of the Institute of Aviation and the main investments carried out throughout the recent years. He pointed out the role of the strong cooperation between Institute of Aviation and General Electric and Pratt&Whitney.
The interest of the guests aroused the Center of Space Technologies, which laboratories were presented by Wojciech Florczuk.
An important element of the meeting was the discussion about the Engineering Design Center, which was established by the Institute of Aviation and General Electric. Representative of GE, Marian Lubieniecki and Director of EDC, Rafał Kajka stressed the importance of the qualified and experienced personnel in creating the success of Warsaw EDC.
The meeting was ended by the speech of Professor George Osypowicz, the Chairman of Foundation for Innovations Exchange in Science and Technology, who talked about Polish-American cooperation in the field of science and culture. On this occasion, the meeting was attended by students of the Ohio State University, who are currently participating in a research internship at the Institute of Aviation.
