July 31 and August 2 the participants of the 34 Combustion Symposium organized by the Warsaw University of Technology visited the Institute of Aviation. The host and guide of the international group was Professor Piotr Wolański, head of the research project at the Institute, aiming to build a model of experimental turbine engine combustion chamber using a rotating detonation effect, which is currently patented in Poland. Application to detonation engine combustion chamber will significantly increase its efficiency, reduce toxic exhaust emissions and greenhouse gases, simplify design, reduce weight and manufacturing cost of drive unit. The estimated increase in efficiency is by over 10%. Guests congratulated the professor and his team advances in the study. Professor Koichi Hayashi from Gakuin University Aoyama believes that it is one of the best facilities of its kind in the world and is very promising for the future of aviation. In 34 Combustion Symposium was attended by 1260 participants from Japan, USA, Canada, China, Russia and other countries, conducting research on combustion.
