The Institute of Aviation was distinguished in the report „Dobre praktyki w zarządzaniu wiekiem i zasobami ludzkimi ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem pracowników 50+” („Good practice in age management and human resources with particular emphasis on workers over 50”) prepared by Instytut Badań nad Demokracją i Przedsiębiorstwem Prywatnym (Foundation “Research Institute for Private Enterprise and Democracy”) and ERIFO company. The implemented programme of intergenerational cooperation is based on mentoring and tutoring of experienced researchers over the younger staff. This allows to benefit from knowledge, experience and networking needed in conducting research projects.
Maintaining the activity of older workers, even after they reach retirement age, is the result of appropriate personnel policy and the friendly atmosphere in the workplace. Employees of the 50+ age group gain at the Institute of Aviation new, rewarding professional challenges, and their knowledge and experience are used in many areas of the company. Mentoring program successfully operates in aerodynamics or engine space teams. Another model of cooperation of older and younger workers is tutoring, based on the direct relationship “master – apprentice”. As our experience shows, age diversity allows to keep innovation at a high level and helps to achieve the highest scientific quality of the carried out works.
