A three-volume, richly illustrated guide showing the most interesting historical places associated with aviation in Warsaw is the latest book of the Publishing Houses of the Institute of Aviation. The official premiere of the guide will be held on May 21st, 2016 at 2 p.m. during the 10th Academic and Scientific Book Fair ACADEMIA at the PGE Narodowy stadium in Warsaw.
The guide presents 150 places in Warsaw that are connected with Polish and worldwide aviation. Some of them are monuments, others are battle sites, places of death or…birth. Other still, due to their very name, perpetuate the memory of outstanding people or their works. Much of the presented content and photographs are premiered in this guide.
– This book is an invitation to wander around a city that still harbours many mysteries and is a real treasure trove of interesting places to visit – says Witold Świeczak, the author of the book.
The guide is divided into three volumes, each containing sites that are worth visiting in particular districts of Warsaw. Each district also has its own map to help plan sightseeing trips.
In the first volume the author invites the reader for an aviation walk around five districts: Śródmieście, Praga Południe, Praga Północ, Rembertów and Wesoła.
In the second volume the author presents the following five districts: Ochota, Mokotów, Ursynów, Włochy and Ursus.
The third volume suggests walk routes around Bielany, Żolborz, Wola and Bemowo.

The guide was published on the occassion of the 90th anniversary of the Institute of Aviation, which is celebrated under the honorary patronage of the President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda.
