The project “Developing Methodologies for Testing Damage Tolerance of Composite Aerospace Structures” aims to develop a standard methodology for assessing the impact of damage on the strength and durability of composite structures. The rapid development of technological processes in Polish enterprises entails the need for certification of all newly created devices and products as well as the development of the appropriate legal standards.
The concept of TEBUK will contribute to solving this problem by developing a uniform computing methodology for modern composite products. The technologies which are aimed to be developed will allow series production of composite structures and subassemblies thereby increasing their availability on the market.
Operational Programme Innovative Economy
Priority 1 Research and development of new technologies
Measure 1.1 Supporting research for knowledge-based economy
Measure 1.1.2 Strategic programmes for scientific research and developmental works
Project Manager: Ph. D. Eng. Daniel Szeląg
The project will consist of the 5 independent but closely related tasks: detecting production and in-service defects through NDT methods of high resistance carbon composites recommended for use in the domestic aviation industry; defining the permissible size of defect based on numerical and experimental analysis of damage growth; numerical calculation of the residual strength and experimental validation of computational methods for selected parts of the airframe structure with technological flaws and in-service defects; computational analysis and damage resistance tests of the selected demonstrator’s component; drafting the model certification documentation for the demonstrator’s component.
A detailed assessment of the current state of technology will be carried out in the course of the project.
