Description: The aim of this publication is to provide a comprehensive overview of the most important helicopter problems. A simulation approach was adopted as the basis for this work. It allows for faster, than in the case of other research methods, deepening the knowledge about the course and interdependence of phenomena in the system and their easier physical interpretation. The aim of this paper is to familiarize the reader with the theoretical foundations of the discussed problems and then to illustrate the results and practical implementation of the research on numerous examples. The paper is divided into two parts. The first one contains mathematical models of helicopter and steering, as well as models of design and operation systems. The second part gives examples of simulation studies.
These include studies of flight tasks, helicopter structural dynamics (including degraded states and system instability), flow disturbances and interference, as well as examples of simulation studies of helicopter manufacturing processes (design, flight tests, operation).
The publication is intended for those interested in helicopter specialization – students, engineers, helicopter users and pilots.
