Description: The book presents the reasons for the creation and continuous development of methods of diagnosis of aircraft turbine engines with particular attention paid to the selection of parameters (mainly flow parameters) that are effective carriers of diagnostic information.
On the example of a single-flow, single-rotor jet engine without an afterburner, the possibilities of using computational simulation models to study the course of engine characteristics in various environmental conditions (climate, flight parameters: altitude and velocity) and to optimize the set of operating parameters measured for diagnostic purposes were shown. It also indicates the way of proceeding in the case of engines with more complex construction and flow systems. Attention was drawn to the usefulness of continuous measurement of fuel pressure drop in injectors both for diagnostic purposes and for practically inertia-free measurement of current fuel consumption. The influence of manufacturing tolerances of engine parts and assemblies on the output values of its flow parameters and its dynamics was also pointed out. The book tries to familiarize the user with the technology of diagnosis of turbine engines constantly developed by manufacturers and the impact of these activities on the safety of flying and the durability and reliability of engines.
