Description: The book contains some studies from Aerokoła and results of research carried out by the author together with his conclusions. The beginnings of these works date back to 1945. They include the analysis of the course of taxiing, take-off, and short flight of the Liberator AL523, finished with its crash on the surface of the sea. The basis for the analysis is the determination of the actual total weight of the aircraft and the corresponding position of the centre of gravity. The author based his research on the data contained in the report of the British Commission, statements of witnesses and the design and operation documentation of the aircraft. As a result of the research, the causes of the catastrophe were identified and questions were answered concerning: the pilot’s wearing a MaeWest lifejacket, problems with taxiing and falling out of a mail bag, the place where the plane collided with water, the course of leaving the plane by the pilot, finding the wreck, Prchal’s qualification and his role in camouflage against the intelligence cargo transported. Statements and conclusions contained in the text of the book represent the author’s view.
