2nd Wroclaw GISday 2015
The 2nd Wrocław GISday 2015 took place on 18 November 2015. The organizers of the event were Wrocław University of Technology and University of Wrocław. The Institute of Aviation also marked its presence during this event. The International Day of Geographical Information Systems is celebrated in the framework of Geographic Awareness Week. The main idea of the GISday is to promote geoinformatics and presentation of capabilities, which entails the use of Geographic Information Systems in government, education, industry, services, aw well as in everyday life.
During the event there were numerous lectures, workshops and competitions. The event was attended by our representative from the Remote Sensing Division, Mariusz Kacprzak, MSc. Eng., who prepared a presentation titled: “From a paper map through photos to three-dimensional models of cities”.

The conference was organized by PCO S.A. with Military Technical Academy, Polish Technology Photonics Platform and Warsaw University of Technology. The conference was focused on optoelectronic topics including thermowision and photonic, which according to Europe Strategy 2020 is now one of the important technology of EU. There was discussed subject of cooperation research-science of armaments industry, universities and research institutes.
Remote Sensing Division was reprezented by MsC M. Kacprzak and Ph.D. P. Czapski. Representatives were familiarized with the latest trends in optoelectronic field, they also showed the roll-up of Remote Sensing Division. In the next edition our Division will take a active part in the conference showing our achievements in remote sensing and optoelectronic fields.
European Oak Decline Phenomenon – causes, monitoring and possible mitigation measures
In days 6-7 July 2015 in Novotel hotel, 1st August street, Warsaw, international conference was held. The conference related to the causes, monitoring and possible methods of counteracting the effects of the phenomenon of dying oaks in Europe. The conference was organized by the Forest Research Institute within the HESOFF project „Evaluation of the health state of forests and an effect of phosphite treatments with the use of photovoltaic SLE UAV” co-financed by the European Commission under the LIFE + and by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management.
On the first day of the conference speeches were preached by invited experts from abroad and poster sessions were held, during which issues were discussed, related to the population and evolutionary ecology of pathogens of the genus Phytophthora and damaging their participation in the fine roots of oaks, new possibilities of their detection and identification in environmental samples (soil and water) using methods such as molecular biology, eg. new generation sequencing.
On the second day at the Institute of Aviation were presented technological solutions used in the HESOFF project including Multisensor platform mounted on the plane. Participants could learn about the activities and achievements of the Remote Sensing Department of Institute of Aviation. Whereas in headquarters of the Forest Research Institute the forest environment monitoring techniques of remote sensing methods were presented.
