A functional test of the ILR-33 AMBER 2K rocket launch system, adapted to the requirements of the SUBCOM project, has been successfully completed at the \u0141ukasiewicz Research Network \u2013 Institute of Aviation. The project is co-financed by the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR), with Thorium Space SA acting as its leader. This marks an important step bringing the consortium closer to conducting field trials\u2014the flight will be the first use of the ILR-33 AMBER 2K rocket for a dedicated customer mission.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aim of the test, conducted in June within theinfrastructure of \u0141ukasiewicz \u2013 ILOT, was to comprehensively verify the technical performance of the system and the correct operation of all key components under conditions similar to operational ones. During the tests, among other things, mission-specific operational procedures and interfaces between the ILR-33 AMBER 2K suborbital rocket and the enhanced ground infrastructure were validated, including the operation of communication, positioning, and tracking systems developed as part of the project. Technologies to be used in subsequent stages of the project were also tested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSuccessful completion of the functional tests of the SUBCOM system confirms that its key components operate in line with assumptions, providing a foundation for further work \u2014 including system validation in operational conditions. As the project encompasses a complete system of many interrelated elements, it serves as an excellent demonstration of the company\u2019s expertise in antenna design, RF systems, mechanical structures, and software. Its implementation confirms the capability to carry out complex, interdisciplinary projects requiring the integration of knowledge from multiple engineering domains\u201d says Phd Piotr Mierzejewski, CEO of Thorium Space SA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About the SUBCOM project<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Phase II of the SUBCOM project involves the development of advanced communication and navigation systems for space and rocket applications. The project is implemented under funding allocated within the European Funds for a Modern Economy 2021\u20132027 (FENG) programme. It is a direct continuation of Phase I carried out under the Smart Growth Operational Programme (POIR). Phase II aligns with the specific objective under Priority 1 of FENG, which focuses on developing and strengthening research capabilities and the use of advanced technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project will enable the introduction of innovative communication systems to the global market, targeting manufacturers of satellites, suborbital rockets, and military rockets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
