Copper Xperience Day 2024 is behind us"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>The Copper Xperience Day 2024 was held at the \u0141ukasiewicz&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>\u2013 Institute of Aviation on June 18, 2024. The main topic of the event was 3D printing technology using pure copper and its alloys.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The conference was an opportunity to present challenges, potential market applications and real customer insights. It was also a chance to discuss technological progress and to meet and establish contacts with industry experts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lectures by outstanding specialists opened new perspectives for the use of modern technologies in industry including a significant increase in demand for advanced heat exchange in data centers, consistent implementations in the energy industry, and challenges limiting the implementation of copper printing in the nuclear industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Copper Xperience Day 2024\" width=\"580\" height=\"326\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/xtUqoIrdYwA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>3D printing technology in copper for aviation and space industry<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A key part of Copper Xperience Day 2024 was a tour of the Institute\u2019s spaces related to the process of producing components based on 3D printing. \u0141ukasiewicz \u2013 Institute of Aviation, as one of the few institutions in Poland, conducts innovative research on the entire technological chain of additive manufacturing aimed for the aerospace industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCurrently, at the Institute, we are conducting projects related to materials engineering, as well as directly related to the production of advanced elements for the new generation of rocket engines, heavy industry and automotive industry,\u201d says Micha\u0142 Fedasz, head of the 3D metal printing laboratory at the \u0141ukasiewicz \u2013 Institute of Aviation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou should be aware that pure copper is not very durable. But on the other hand, if the application allows for a slight reduction in conductivity, you can make the copper alloy mechanically durable by using alloy additions such as chromium, zirconium or nickel\u201d, adds Micha\u0142 Fedasz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Institute has been specializing in 3D printing technology in metal and polymers for several years. At the end of 2023, a new laboratory building was opened here, which is a result of the continuous increase in the technological potential of the machinery and the development of engineering competences. With the new location, the Institute has expanded its&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ilot.lukasiewicz.gov.pl\/en\/offer\/additive-technologies\/\">product offer<\/a>, encouraging customers to use the
