\u0141ukasiewicz \u2013 Institute of Aviation representatives participated in a three-day meeting of NBSOIL project consortium that took place in Austria on September 28-30, 2023. Together with the implementation of the project tasks, photogrammetric flights were also carried out using unmanned aircraft systems over the demonstration areas selected by representatives of the Austrian consortium members.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The NBSOIL (Nature-Based Solutions for Soil Management) is a four-year EU-funded project that aims to create and test the educational path of current and future soil advisors. It assumes the implementation of holistic solutions to improve the condition of the soil through nature-based solutions (NBS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several sets of photogrammetric data: RGB, multispectral and laser scanning (LiDAR) for 7 areas in Austria (St. Martin, Mureck, Kumberg, Absdorf or Fels Am Wagram) were obtained. In the future, the acquired data sets will be used to create studies for the purposes of the NBSOIL project, including a database for soil advisors and the definition of comprehensive soil monitoring methods, with the use of remote sensing. Carrying out the mission in Austria was necessary to implement the project assumptions, due to the selection of demonstration areas in this country for two categories of land use (forest areas and bioremediation). As a result of the activities carried out, it was possible to obtain data for each of the selected areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe mission was very demanding, but we achieved the initial objectives to obtain data for each category of areas defined in the NBSOIL project. The biggest challenge was to obtain data for forests located in the mountainous area of \u200b\u200bStyria, Austria. Thanks to this, we have gained valuable experience necessary to carry out work on a European scale, as part of future and currently implemented European projects\u201d, says Marcin Spiralski, coordinator of the NBSOIL project at \u0141ukasiewicz \u2013 Institute of Aviation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Obtaining the data was possible thanks to cooperation with the Austrian consortium partners from the Vienna University of Life Sciences (BOKU), the Styrian Chamber of Agriculture (LK Steiermark) and the Alchemia-Nova company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After completing the air missions, the delegation participants took part in a meeting of the NBSOIL project consortium. On the first day, the project-related policy and framework regarding individual stages of implementation of this project were discussed. On the second day, meeting participants had the opportunity to visit demonstration farms, where, thanks to favorable circumstances, representatives of the \u0141ukasiewicz \u2013 Institute of Aviation presented the possibilities of using unmanned aircraft systems with sensors that were used in the previous days to carry out the mission. This presentation aroused great interest among all participants present. On the last day of the project meeting, the focus was set on defining the schedule for future design work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
