The \u0141ukasiewicz \u2013 Institute of Aviation company, Mielec Aviation Company Ltd. (Mieleckie Zak\u0142ady Lotnicze Sp. z o.o.<\/em>), became the new owner of the Aviation Services Department in Mielec. The transfer of ownership agreement to an organized part of the enterprise was signed with Airbus Poland S.A. on October 31, 2022. The main purpose of the acquisition of the Aviation Services Department in Mielec by the Institute\u2019s company is to expand the possibilities in the field of commercialization of services and products as well as conducting joint research and development projects. The new unit specializes in aviation services and training, but also develops the design and production of aviation equipment and components.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The core activity of Mielec Aviation Company Ltd. will focus on continuing to provide air services to the State Forests in the field of protection against pests and fires. The company has a fleet of 40 aircraft, most of which are adapted to provide agricultural and firefighting services. In addition, the company is competent in the field of servicing General Aviation aircraft of various types and managing flight continuity. Thanks to specialized staff it runs a fully certified aviation training center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe purpose of establishing Mielec Aviation Company Ltd. and acquiring the Aviation Services Department by the Institute \u2013 says Pawe\u0142 St\u0119\u017cycki, director of the \u0141ukasiewicz \u2013 Institute of Aviation \u2013 was to gain an industrial partner for research and implementation projects, including cooperation in the commercialization of projects developed within the competence of the Institute and the entire \u0141ukasiewicz Research Network. Our ambition is not only to maintain and continue the existing activities of the Aviation Services Department, but also to launch production processes. We would like Mielec Aviation Company Ltd. to become a center consolidating various economic entities in the field of aviation, having high specialist competences in order to reactivate the aviation industry with Polish funds. We hope that Mielec Aviation Company Ltd., as a state-owned entity, will be able to obtain funds for investments and implementation of our projects.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Successful negotiations<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Considering the need to develop the business in Mielec and the adopted development policy of the entire Airbus Group, the owner of the Aviation Services Department in Mielec decided to sell this business unit, however, maintaining the current nature and stability of its tasks. Thanks to good contacts and fruitful cooperation, the offer submitted by the Institute was received by the Airbus Group with great interest. The negotiations led to the agreement that were beneficial for both parties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis year we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Aviation Services Department in Mielec which has been continuously providing firefighting and agricultural services since 1972, mainly for the public sector in Poland. ASD is a significant part of our company with many competent and experienced employees. However, Airbus in Poland is closely related in its operations to military aviation production and maintenance services in this area. We decided to focus locally on further development of production and servicing of military aircraft fleets. We were determined that our Mielec part of the business would be taken over by a domestic investor, a stable company that could provide ASD not only with business security but also with development. We are glad that this part of our activity is now under the wings of \u0141ukasiewicz \u2013 Institute of Aviation. We are convinced that within the new organization, ASD will develop and expand its activities in Poland. At the same time, thanks to this transaction, we will strengthen cooperation between the Institute and Airbus Poland on many other levels related to the aviation industry\u201d said Johannes von Thadden, President of the Management Board and Managing Director of Airbus Poland S.A.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Mielec Aviation Company Ltd. is located in a special economic zone in Mielec and thanks to its location in the center of the Aviation Valley, it will be a base not only for the \u0141ukasiewicz \u2013 Institute of Aviation, but it intends independently to enter both domestic and foreign markets with its services. Cooperation with the Institute will allow to expand the development possibilities of the company. It is also an inspiring combination of a research institution with an industrial partner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
