The fair jurors awarded a silver medal to the invention titled: \u201cDetonation chamber to power a turbine in liquid propellant rocket engines\u201d, developed at \u0141ukasiewicz \u2013 Institute of Aviation. Its authors are professor Piotr Wola\u0144ski and Micha\u0142 Kawalec, PhD Eng.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The invention significantly improves the power supply of the rocket engine and simplifies its structure, and as a result, it will allow to improve the efficiency of the pre-chamber operation and increase the performance of rockets equipped with such turbine propulsion systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another type of innovation concerning the regenerative cooling of the rocket engine detonation chamber, also developed at the Institute, was successfully tested in September this year, during&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ilot.lukasiewicz.gov.pl\/en\/the-worlds-first-launch-of-a-rocket-powered-by-a-detonation-engine\/\">the world\u2019s first flight test of an experimental rocket powered by a rocket engine using the rotating detonation process and powered by liquid propellants<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The test was carried out at the Military Institute of Armament Technology in Zielonka near Warsaw. The rocket engine worked for 3.2 seconds, accelerating the rocket to a speed of about 90 m\/s which allowed the rocket to reach an altitude of 450 m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2014<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The&nbsp;\u0141ukasiewicz Research Network \u2013 Institute of Aviation<\/strong>&nbsp;is one of the most modern research facilities in Europe, with traditions dating back to 1926.
