Among almost 160 thousand researchers from all over the world, there were 726 scientists from Poland, including two employees of \u0141ukasiewicz-Institute of Aviation: Professor Piotr Wola\u0144ski and Professor Jerzy Kozak.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The World\u2019s TOP 2% Scientist list is available here:\u00a0<a title=\"Opens in a new window\" href=\"https:\/\/data.mendeley.com\/datasets\/btchxktzyw\/2\"><strong>https:\/\/data.mendeley.com\/datasets\/btchxktzyw\/2<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Professor Piotr Wola\u0144ski<\/strong>\u00a0is an outstanding and world-renowned specialist in the field of research on combustion engines, detonations, explosions and astrophysics. He has been associated with our institute since 1991. He has been repeatedly elected as a member of its Scientific Council and in the past he was also its chairman. He is the founder and guardian of the Department of Space Technologies established in the Space Technology Center. Piotr Wola\u0144ski is involved in the ILR-33 BURSZTYN rocket project and works on the creation of a new jet engine using the process of rotating detonation. Awarded with many prestigious prizes for his scientific and didactic activities. Lecturer at Polish and foreign universities, for many years associated with the Institute of Thermal Technology at the Warsaw University of Technology. For many years he was a chairman of the Committee for Space and Satellite Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences, a vice-chairman of the UN Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Space (UN COPUOS) and a member of many scientific and technical organizations. In 2015 he received an honorary doctorate from the Military University of Technology.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Professor Jerzy Kozak<\/strong>\u00a0is an authority in the field of machine technology, especially non-traditional machining and micromachining processes and their applications in the industry. In 1979-82 he served as Deputy Director for Scientific Affairs at the Institute of Aviation. Since 2010 he has been again associated with our institute, currently as a research leader \u2013 professor at the Center for Research Organization. Winner of the prestigious Blackall Machine Tool and Gage Award (together with Bin Wei and K.P. Rajurkar) awarded by the American Society of Mechanical Engineering for the best publication in the US in the field of machine technology. A long-time academic lecturer, associated with the Warsaw University of Technology and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in the USA. In the past he has been a member of many scientific committees, including the Presidium of the Machinery Construction Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Machine Technology Section of the KBM-PAN, Association of Polish Engineers and Technicians of Mechanical Engineering (SIMP), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), American Society of Precision Engineering (ASPE) and a former chairman of the Micro and Nanotechnology Section of the KBM-PAN.<\/p>\n<p>_<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u0141ukasiewicz Research Network \u2013 Institute of Aviation<\/strong>\u00a0is one of the most modern research facilities in Europe, with traditions dating back to 1926.
