International cooperation
Association of European Research Establishments in Aeronautics EREA has been in existence since 1994 and is Europe's largest, most influential and recognizable organization of aeronautics researchers and scientists. The Institute of Aviation has been a member of the EREA for almost 10 years. The workers of the Institute represent ILOT in all the EREA working groups: Aviation Research Group (ARG) and Security Research Group (SRG), Future Sky Group, Security for Aviation Group, EREA Board and EREA Executive Secretariat.

The International Committee on Aeronautical Fatigue and Structural Integrity (ICAF) was formed in 1951 in response to the growing concerns regarding fatigue problems in aircraft structures. The scope of ICAF interests has expanded over the years to include most aspects of aircraft structural integrity. The stated aims of ICAF are to encourage contacts between people actively engaged in aircraft structural integrity problems and to exchange information. Poland in ICAF is represented by a national delegate from Łukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of Aviation.

In accordance with a mutual desire to promote further cooperation in higher education between the United States of America and Poland, The Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering at The Warsaw University of Technology and The Institute of Aviation, Warsaw, Poland and The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio, USA signed a formal agreement for the purpose of educational and cultural exchange.
